Because we had designed the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, and had vast hospitality experience, we were invited to design the new convention centre in Windhoek and the attached Brand Hotel.
Windhoek Conference Centre and Hotel
Because we had designed the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, and had vast hospitality experience, we were invited to design the new convention centre in Windhoek and the attached Brand Hotel.
It was a tight site, so the stacking of the convention facilities was vertical, which meant that special attention had to be paid to vertical circulation, being a combination of grand staircases, escalators, and elevators.
Because of the Windhoek climate and the desire for sustainability, all the relevant façades were heavily shaded and this became part of the architectural language of the composition.
